You may have questions or concerns about coming to see Dr. Lott.  Don't worry!  He is a periodontist who has a passion about giving  you the best dentistry available.  We have posted some of our most commonly asked questions below.  If you have further questions, please call us at 310-373-6353.

What is a periodontist?

Periodontists are specialists who use their extensive knowledge and training to help patients restore and repair their teeth.  Specialists, like Dr. Lott, often handle complex dental cases and can help you have a beautiful, functional smile, no matter what state your teeth are in.

Periodontists are one of nine dental specialties recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA).  While many general dentists complete four years of dental school, periodontists receive another three years of specialized training at an ADA accredited graduate education program in addition to attending continuing education courses.  Periodontists work with general dentists, other dental specialists, and even health care professionals to develop solutions for your oral health.

My gums bleed after I brush.  Is this something to be concerned about?

Yes!  You should be very concerned about bleeding gums, especially if you haven't had a check-up in a while.  While it may seem harmless, bleeding gums may indicate a variety of serious health problems, including gum disease.  If your gums are bleeding, call us as soon as possible to schedule an appointment so we can analyze the cause.

Do you accept my insurance plan?

In this day and age, we know deciphering your insurance benefits can be confusing.  We can assist you with your insurance concerns, file your insurance forms for you as well as helping to track and address other insurance issues.  We are in network with Delta Dental, CIGNA, Aetna and Met Life.  Additionally, we can also bill medical insurance PPO plans depending on the surgical procedure.  We are happy to try and use our medical billing third party to try and obtain benefits for our patients.

We feel, however, that your insurance should never dictate the quality or timing of your treatment. If you have extensive or long term dental care, our office offers financial assistance through Care Credit, as well as our own in-office options.
